Nautica
Final project for Computer Graphics at IIIT-H. A play-until-you-die pirate ship game with naval combat, treasure hunting, and a Blender-assisted trailer.
Overview
Nautica was our final project for the Computer Graphics course at IIIT-H, built by a team of 3. The project had two main deliverables: a playable 3D game and a game trailer. In the game, you play as a pirate ship sailing the ocean in a play-until-you-die style - your score increases with every treasure chest you collect. Enemy marine ships spawn in waves and fire cannons at you; you can fight back with your own cannons. The trailer combined in-game footage with new assets, plus an opening story sequence created in Blender.
The Game
- Pirate ship gameplay on open ocean—collect treasure chests to increase your score
- Play-until-you-die: survive as long as you can and chase a high score
- Enemy marine ships spawn in waves and shoot cannons at you
- Fire your own cannons to take them down
- Two view modes: third person and top down
The Trailer
We added various assets to the game and recorded clips from gameplay. We also used Blender to create an initial story setup that sets the scene before cutting into the action.
